Through the course of 2013 I have commited to running 1,000 miles to raise $100,000 for Friends of the Children. This organization provides children from high-risk communities 12 years of transformative mentoring relationships. Their ultimate goal is for these children to graduate from high school and succeed in college. Having worked with many kids from high-risk communities as a football coach, I understand the importance of providing children resources and support they need to overcome obstacles they face to reach their full potential.
To achieve this goal I organized a series of monthly fundraisers throughout 2013. Each fundraiser will vary from volunteering to extreme physical challenges. The idea is to participate in at least one activity per month while encouraging as many friends as possible to get involved in the name of raising funds for an amazing cause.
By the time its all said and done I estimate I will have run 1,000 miles (you can track here… nike plus), biked 1,000 miles, swam 100 miles, volunteered 100 hours and hopefully celebrated a couple hours along the way.
